As we spent all day yesterday at Granite Expo, a very successful event for Aberdeen Businesses, we thought we’d give you a few tips for making the most of your exhibition presence.
Have a theme – ours was all about helping your business to bloom and grow, so we had grass, flowers, a flower pot for collecting business cards and grow your own Christmas Tree kits to give away. A theme gives you a consistent message and makes your stand more eyecatching.
Give an incentive to collect contact details -the simplest way is a prize draw. There were some great ideas at Granite Expo including bottles of champagne, hampers and an Apple TV!
Break the ice – have some giveaways to help start conversations. Our Christmas Tree kits were great for that, and they also attracted lots of attention with people coming to see us specifically to get a tree. Note for next year – buy more trees. They ran out too soon!
Look for additional opportunities to raise your profile – I was fortunate enough to be given a seminar to present, which meant extra publicity before and on the day, and a chance to tell a roomful of people what we do!
Promote your presence before the event – this can take many forms. You can write to or email your customers and contacts and invite them to come to your stand – again, give an incentive. You can capitalise on PR and advertising opportunities in any show guides (the Aberdeen Press and Journal produced a show supplement on Monday). Tell the press about any product launches or competitions taking place, and of course, use your website and social media to tell the world you will be exhibiting.
Well done to everyone involved with Granite Expo. We can’t wait until next year!
